Before founding Atlas, Nathan worked from sweeping shop floors to welding and cutting pipe, then into modeling, fabrication and coordination.

He built and installed assemblies he had first detailed, and later led design teams. That background informs the practice: consider what happens after a model becomes a drawing, reaches the shop and arrives in the field.
